- Title
Can Constitutions Be of Use in the Resolution of Secessionist Conflicts?
- Authors
Jovanovic, Miodrag A.
- Abstract
The article focuses on constitutionalization of secession in liberal-democratic countries. It notes that the strategy would not be in opposition to liberal-democratic constitutionalism because it respects ethnocultural diversity and enhances multiculturalism. It discusses several rules that must be avoided by a liberal-democratic state in applying the strategy, including prevention of impasse ungovernability, strengthening political stability, and avoiding interference from international actors.
