- Abstract
The article is about the use of sequence-based transcriptional profiling that reveals unexpected transcriptome complexity in arabidopsis thaliana and an enhanced gene catalog to facilitate genome annotation. One of the most cost-effective approaches is to identify the active genes in an organism using the transcriptional profiling technique, massively parallel signature sequencing. Genome annotation efforts usually couple in silico prediction methods with experimental techniques for gene discovery, such as expressed sequence tag sequencing, gene trapping, quantitative, serial analysis of gene expression or genome tiling path arrays.
