The article discusses a study on the Christmas book review which reveals a gentler reviewing period of the Christmas season and the ways where Christmas consumerism motivated a seasonal market focused on the materiality of a volume. Topics discussed include the evolution of British book reviews before the Victorian period and the 3 stages under which the reviews supporting the Christmas book market developed including the expansion of the space given to Christmastime reviews.
