- Abstract
The effects of the local injection of d-aldosterone and hydrocortisone on the function of the human sweat gland have been studied. Both aldosterone and hydrocortisone increase sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion. With both steroids, a maximal effect on Na/K ratio was seen in 24 hours. The rate of sweat secretion was reduced by aldosterone but not by hydrocortisone.
