In this article the author discusses the vulnerability of New Zealand's democratic infrastructure as its physical infrastructure as shown by the Canterbury earthquake. He is critical of the Canterbury Earthquake Response and Recovery Act of 2010, which he thinks violates some basic principles of the country's constitution and disturbs its democratic infrastructure. Also discussed is the impropriety of the Henry VIII clauses which should be subject to parliamentary scrutiny.
