An essay is presented on flying an MQ-9 Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The author relates his experiences and observations as well as the practicalities he learned in flying such system. It examines the importance of good visual contact during takeoff and landing as well as wide visibility during piloting. It also discusses the commitment of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to public safety.
