The poem "lucency" by Allison Whittenberg explores the experience of a panic attack and the sudden relief that can come from self-reassurance. Whittenberg is an accomplished poet, short story writer, playwright, and novelist, known for her works such as Sweet Thang, Hollywood and Maine, and Life is Fine. Her writing has been featured in various publications, including Flying Island, Feminist Studies, Inconclast, and The Ekphrastic Review. Whittenberg is also a six-time Pushcart Prize nominee and has scleroderma.
