- Abstract
Goal: to delineate the clinical profile of children and adolescents (0 to 14 years old) that received treatment in a hospital in Fortaleza, Ceará, based on the criteria of a ASRR pediatric protocol. Methods: Documentary study from samples of 627 emergency medical service bulletins that were randomly chosen, processed and analyzed at SPSS 17.0. Results: Most children came from the III Regional Executive Office (65,63%), were males (57,33%), within the age group of 1 to 5 years old (51,63%) and within the appropriate weight level (53,42%). There were associations between risk classification and the medical clinic specialty (p<0,001), with a higher classification percentage from yellow to blue in the medical clinic. The most common complaint was fever with yellow classification. Conclusion: Through risk classification, nurses can identify the level of the patients' clinical commitment and the institution's appropriate and exceeding demand, providing thus the necessary care according to the level of complexity present in each case.
