- Authors
HAYNES, MELISSA
- Abstract
The article examines the "Erôtes" dialogue of Greek satirist Lucian and its relevance to viewing sculpture and architecture. It notes that the "Erôtes" may have been written sometime between the second and fourth centuries of the Common Era (CE). It analyzes the impact of architectural frame in imparting sexual and aesthetic meaning in the context of position when viewing Praxiteles' sculpture of Aphrodite of Cnidus.
