The article focuses on role of social model of disability in deconstructing the means by which able-bodiedness is idealized. Topics discussed include David Turner's views on focus placed by disability scholars on extreme or exotic bodies, pathologizing disability as biological inferiority and as the object of curative intervention, and period of transition toward medicalization.
