- Authors
Choowong, M.
- Abstract
The article examines the earthquake of surface wave magnitude (M) 7.6 that occurred on August 10, 2009 in the coast of Port Blair, Andaman Islands, India. It claims that the M 7.6 earthquake was related to the 1941 earthquake and according to seismological and geological predictions, it confirmed the recurrence in the pre-2004 rupture zone. It concludes that the earthquake served as a forewarning for future earthquakes and tsunamis that may recur in countries close to Indian Ocean.
