- Abstract
We describe the construction of a low-cost magnetometer that can be attached to the cryogen-free helium refrigerator systems for low temperature and high magnetic field measurements. The slow extraction of magnetized specimen and integration of voltage induced in the pick-up coil assembly provide the magnetization. This method of measurement has wider applicability than the vibrating sample magnetometer, and can be employed for magnetization measurements at high pressure and extremely low temperatures, etc. The entire magnetometer can be easily and cheaply constructed using locally available materials. The magnetometer is fully automated. Details of the extraction unit, pick-up coil assembly, a high-quality integrator and a timing circuit are presented. The testing and calibration have been done using standard materials.
