- Abstract
The article discusses efforts by the Korean Medical Association (KMA) to self-regulate television appearances by physicians so as not to harm or mislead the public through sensational, exaggerated content or false advertising. It offers a definition of Show Doctors according to KMA and presents two cases illustrating their negative health impact to viewers. It also talks about KMA's adoption of guidelines on Show Doctors, and ethics guideline and controversy over adoption as legal obligation.
