- Abstract
The article describes a 10-day unit on physical and chemical changes presented in a 5th grade classroom where students were provided with multiple examples of physical and chemical changes and required to cite multiple indicators as evidence of that change. The students's science notebooks entries were observed everyday while the teacher created a class checklist to document their findings. It notes the unit's success in addressing common misconceptions held by students on changes in matter.
