- Abstract
The article focuses on lawyers, soldiers, and intelligence officers all belong to distinct but fundamentally similar ethical professions which are characterized by special expertise, training, licensing, and ethical obligations. It mentions complexity of challenges facing the country, and their independence works as a check on error and bad faith by public officials. It also mentions need to manage themselves individually, particularly their human susceptibility for corruption.
