- Title
Two Approaches to Foundations in Greek Mathematics: Apollonius and Geminus.
- Authors
Acerbi, Fabio
- Abstract
The article presents an examination into the history of ancient Greek mathematics and philosophy, focusing on the existence and debate over mathematical homeomery between the philosophers Apollonius and Geminus. The author asserts that the discipline of the "foundations of mathematics" or the study of the ontology of mathematics, was a well-established field during the Classical Greek period. An overview of this field is then given, outlining the philosophical and mathematical theories and methods which they used.
