- Title
Mercury disposal sole health concern with fluorescent lights.
- Authors
Kondro, Wayne
- Abstract
The article focuses on the claim of health and lighting experts that health concerns with fluorescent lights lack valid scientific evidence. Among the diseases allegedly caused by fluorescent lights are carcinomas, breast cancer, cardiovascular diseases and sexual dysfunction. According to Doctor John Bullough of Rennsselaer Polytechnic Institute Lighting Research Centre, even clean-up and disposal of broken fluorescent bulbs should not pose an immediate health risk. It notes that the average fluorescent bulb contains 5 milligrams of mercury.
