- Abstract
The article focuses on the proposal to conserve Phoenix canariensis against P. cycadifolia of the palm family Arecaceae. It reports that the generic name Phoenix canariensis has been used to name palms from the Canary Islands. It mentions the inclusion of Phoenix cycadifolia in the list of exotic palms in Florida and states that Phoenix canariensis is a long-established name for a species of horticultural importance.
