- Title
Herbarium specimens expand the geographical and temporal range of germplasm data in phylogeographic studies.
- Authors
Lister, Diane L.; Bower, Mim A.; Jones, Martin K.
- Abstract
In this article, the authors discuss the application of Phylogeography in investigation of crop biodiversity's significant reduction. The authors say that phylogeographic research of crop plants extensively depends on the utilization of crop germplasm or genebank collections which hold a combination of modern and traditional landrace crop varities. They also note some important considerations of employing herbarium specimens in phylogeographic studies including the use of destructive sampling.
