- Title
SOME FURTHER EVIDENCE ON THE PERFORMANCE OF PROPERTY-LIABILITY INSURANCE COMPANIES' STOCK PORTFOLIOS.
- Authors
Shick, Richard A.; Trieschmann, James S.
- Abstract
The article presents continued empirical research on property insurance company stock portfolio performance between 1952 and 1968 in relation to the broader stock market and investment performance. A review of previous research on the financial behavior and characteristics of property insurance firms is given, outlining their methodology and possible research biases. A simplification and extension to the line of study is offered through the utilization of the two-factor capital asset pricing model (CAPM) and suggests little performance difference between the firms and the general market.
