- Abstract
In recent years, transition metal-based catalysts (TMOs) attracted much attention in the exploration of high performance furfural oxidation. However, its low intrinsic activity limited its application. Optimizing the electronic structure of TMOs would be an effective strategy to improve the catalytic performance of furfural oxidation. Ru-Co3O4/CP catalyst was successfully prepared by electrodeposition and impregnation. The catalytic performance of FOR and HER was evaluated by electrochemical testing. After adding 50 mmol/ L furfural in 1. 0 mol/ L KOH solution, Ru-Co3O4/CP catalyst with only 1. 41 VRHE could reach 10 mA/ cm² current density, which was 100 mV lower than that without furfural. Using Ru- Co3O4/CP as the cathode and anode catalysts to construct a two-electrode electrolytic cell, the electrolytic voltage required for the electrolytic furfural to reach the current density of 30 mA/ cm² was reduced by 60 mV compared with the total water solution, and high value H2 and furancarboxylic acid were obtained at the cathode and anode.
