Summarizes the results of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyses of injury mortality data by Indian Health Service (IHS) administrative area and by race/ethnicity among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children and youth from 1989-1998. Causes of death among AI/AN aged 19 and above residing in IHS areas; Range of AI/AN motor-vehicle-related death rates by IHS area; Comparison of the injury rates between the AI/AN population and the overall U.S. population.
