- Abstract
Snoring is a common condition that can affect anyone, although it occurs more frequently in men and people who are obese. It worsens with age. There are various causes and effects for snoring. Snoring is more prevalent in patients with chronic bronchitis. Snoring habits are believed to be reduced or eliminated by the use of oral appliances. The aim of the study was to create awareness about the snoring habits and about the equipment used to reduce snoring habits among healthy individuals. This is a cross-sectional study conducted among healthy individuals through a questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 10 questions and was circulated among the healthy individuals between the age group of 40-50 years. The questions were carefully studied and the corresponding answers were marked by the participants. 60% of the population snore everyday. 33.3% of the population think snoring has a bad impact to their health status. This must be reduced as the majority of the population aren't aware about the impacts and effects of snoring in health status. Most of the participants were aware about their snoring habits and a majority of them took measures to reduce snoring. It was also observed that most of them used snoring equipment to reduce their habits. Hence it is important to take the appropriate measles to reduce the risk.
