- Abstract
The article "The Rosary of Our Lady" deals with the significance and history of the Rosary prayer in the Dominican Order. The author, a Dominican and liturgist, defends the prayer against criticism and emphasizes its quality and effectiveness. Although the Rosary prayer does not formally belong to the liturgy of the Church, it has been promoted and recommended since Pope Pius V. It is a communal form of prayer that has been translated into many vernacular languages worldwide. The Rosary is a democratic form of prayer in which everyone actively participates. The article describes the Rosary as a typical Catholic prayer practice and examines its biblical references and spiritual depth. The Rosary consists of the Hail Mary prayer and the Christological mysteries of salvation, which are suggested for meditative reflection. The prayer is recited from the heart without a text basis and allows for identification with Mary and the salvific events of Jesus. Praying the Rosary together enables individual prayer in unity with others, and the prayer beads serve as a tactile aid in the dialogue of prayer.
