The article examines continuity and change in the debate on the separation between church and state in the U.S. Topics include conservative Christians' response to the Supreme Court's rulings in Engel v. Vitale and Abington School District v. Schempp that deal with prayers at public schools, the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, the debates on same-sex marriage, and the right of religious organizations to be exempted from the mandate to prove contraceptives to women under Obamacare.
