- Title
The structure of oribatid mite communities (Acari, Oribatida): patterns, mechanisms and implications for future research.
- Authors
Maraun, M.; Scheu, S.
- Abstract
Presents data on the relative abundance of oribatid mites from 20 different sites. Most of the data are from European, especially German, habitats. The studies were selected to cover a wide range of habitats including more, moder and mull forests, broadleaf and coniferous forests, pastures, meadows, arable fields and fallows of different age. The authors present evidence that in the temperate zone oribatid mite density and relative abundance of specific oribatid mite groups are closely correlated and vary in a predictive pattern with habitat type.
