- Title
Karrierekolumne: In der Grauzone navigieren.
- Abstract
The career column "Navigating in the Gray Zone" discusses job interviews and how to handle personal questions. It is pointed out that employers are allowed to ask questions that help them assess whether applicants can meet the job requirements. However, questions about private life, such as children or health, are not permissible. If such questions are still asked, there are various ways to deal with them, such as confirming the employer's statement without revealing personal information. A practical solution is to refocus the conversation on the essentials and ask the employer what family plans have to do with the job. The author of the column is Philipp Gramlich, co-founder of Natural Science Careers, a company that provides career advice and soft skills seminars for scientists.
