- Abstract
The article discusses the agenda of the major powers Great Britain, U.S., and Soviet Union in the mid-20th century by analyzing their treatment of Iran. Also cited are Iran's efforts to battle Great Britain for control of oil, the collaboration between the U.S. and Great Britain to topple Iranian nationalist leader Doctor Muhammed Mosaddeq in 1953, the use by Western powers of the Mosaddeq model as a strategy to repel radical nationalism in third world countries, and how the British government used the Soviet and communist threats to improve its relations with the U.S.
