Abstract: The scientific marketing literature has been enriched in the recent years with an abundance of works approaching the topic of privacy and providing new views over its content and the ways to apply the conceptual background into the real life. Based on the results of an extensive quantitative study, the paper aims to contribute to a better understanding, in terms of marketing, of the content of personal data, processes related to the personal data gathering, administration and employment, and the cooperation between private and/or public entities and consumers and/or citizens in the area of privacy and of personal data protection.
