- Abstract
This article is about the analysis of color as a possible territorial feature and differentiating value in Marco Correa's wardrobe designs, one of the exponents of the phenomenon that the Chilean fashion magazines of the time identified as "Latin American Fashion" which occurred between 1968 and 1978 approximately. This analysis is part of the research project " Identification of the visual, morphological and technical features that characterized the phenomenon of Latin American Fashion between 1968 and 1978", financed by the Research Department of Universidad de Valparaiso, (Chile), whose objective is to document and identify the visual, morphological and technical features that allowed stablishing an own discourse with respect to the foreign tendency. The collection of information through visual rescue of fashion magazines, the consultation of relevant bibliographic sources and the dialogue with the main protagonists of the phenomenon "Latin American Fashion" were used as methodological processes. The foregoing has allowed a systematic study to reconstruct this phenomenon in Chile with unpublished data. Particularly, and referring to this article, color as a fundamental resource in Correa's work is taken as a case of study like a first approach to the search for an understanding of the chromatic proposal as a differentiating value in the exponents of the so-called "Latin American Fashion" phenomenon, which managed to build wardrobe proposals disaggregating the dictates of the foreign tendencies of the period under study. With the results obtained from this research, the intention is to establish the guidelines for a future project that will go deeper into the chromatic repertoire of the "Latin American Fashion" phenomenon as well as contribute to the memory of the history of fashion and the new generations of designers.
