- Abstract
Introduction: There is no consensus on the frequency, intensity, number of repetitions and duration of muscle stretching. Objective: To verify in what time -- 15 or 30 s -- the greatest extensibility gains are obtained after intervention and over time. Methods: The sample consisted of 16 women with hamstrings retraction, divided into two groups, with protocols in three series of static stretching, and stretching performed during 15s (G1) and 30s (G2). We used a control period between reviews (EV1-EV2) for seven days, and then there were stretches for five consecutive days, with reassessment at the end (EV3), after two days without intervention (EV4) and finally after five days (EV5). Results and Conclusion: G1 and G2 showed increased extensibility, but when comparing between groups, G2 showed the highest increase and maintenance of values.
