- Abstract
This article discusses a case of lacosamide toxicity in a patient with moyamoya disease during inpatient rehabilitation. The patient experienced episodes of dysphagia and other symptoms, which were initially attributed to her underlying condition. However, it was later determined that the increased dosage of lacosamide was causing the worsening symptoms. Lacosamide is a commonly prescribed antiepileptic medication, but it can have central nervous system side effects, especially when the dosage is increased. Clinicians should be cautious when using lacosamide, especially in patients with liver dysfunction or who are underweight. Monitoring of therapeutic levels and EEG should be considered if lacosamide toxicity is suspected.
