- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented of verse drama book "The Saint's Tragedy," by the Anglican priest Charles Kingsley's. The book's portrayal of Kingsley's perspective on asceticism, including in regard to the relations of husbands and wives, sexual practices, sexual deviance and sadism, is discussed. Kingsley's opinion on the Roman Catholic Church and Catholic priests, as portrayed in "The Saint's Tragedy," is discussed.
