- Abstract
The African civet Civettictis civetta and common genet Genetta genetta are among the most widely distributed but poorly studied of African carnivores. Studies of the two species in Africa have focused on diet with little data available on other aspects of their ecology. This article summarizes data from these two individuals on range size, habitat use and grouping patterns collected during a 16 month period from November 1998 to February 2000. The ranging patterns of the two individuals in this study suggest that these two carnivores are capable of living in close proximity to people and their domestic animals.
