- Abstract
The article discusses Miranda rights and the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the 2012 case Howes v. Fields which deals police custody, hopelessness, and the distinctions between prisoners and suspects. A definition of Miranda custody is provided, as well as information on the procedural safeguards that secure a person's privilege against self-incrimination. Police questioning, prison life, and restraints against an individual's freedom of movement are also examined.
