- Title
An Unexpected Turkish Delight: Temples to Egyptian Gods.
- Abstract
The article explores the Egyptian Gods temples in Turkey. One of the temples is found in Priene where the remains of popular gods including Isis, Serapis and Anubis are found. This temple is also noted to have held various rituals, processions and worships dated 200 BC. The Ephesus Museum in Selcuk is also found of having preserved statues from Temple to Isis and a bronze statuette of an Egyptian priest. Another temple, the Temple of Serapis, is also found in Miletus. This temple holds the remains of Corinthian columns and a pediment with a crown of god Helios-Serapis. It suggests that the preservation of the remains of Egyptian deities in various places indicates their popularity and the practical belief of the people.
