Abstract
A recent study in the Red Sea by Shlesinger et al. published in I Ecology i (https://doi.org/10.1002/ecy.3420) detailed this crab's resourcefulness: smashing corals, barnacles, urchins, etc. to get to its food, leaving behind a pile of debris. As with many other nocturnal marine animals, little is known about this crab's natural history. B COVER PHOTO: b A male coral crab ( I Carpilius convexus i ) clips the spines of a sea urchin before breaking its shell to feed on it.
