- Abstract
The article discusses the role of peritoneum tissue as a semipermeable membrane and its application in peritoneal dialysis (PD). It mentions about the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guidelines and the European guidelines for good clinical practice in PD which recommends ways for analyzing baseline peritoneal kinetics. It informs that peritoneal kinetics analyses are used for detecting dialysis-induced pathological changes at early stage and prescribing dialysis regimens.
