- Abstract
Social TV--loosely defined as the use of social network sites to exchange information about TV content, is challenging the traditional TV landscape. Focusing on live-tweeting as a specific manifestation of social TV, the current study (a) examines the types and tones of live-tweets, and (b) interrogates the relationship between the content of live-tweeting and individuals' entertainment experience during television viewing. Posting emotional tweets, particularly in a positive or neutral tone, is associated with stronger program enjoyment. Furthermore, results suggest the number of positive tweets one sent is a significant predictor of perceived program enjoyment.
