- Abstract
This section presents abstracts of various research papers published in the December 1, 1975 issue of the journal Quality and Quantity. In the research paper entitled "Casual Models in the System of Qualitative Sociological Variables: Introductory Remarks," by Frantisek Charvat, the basic idea of analogical models and the central means of their possible construction in the case of qualitative variables has been outlined. In "Measures of Father-to-Son Mobility: A Liberal or Radical Criterion of Evaluation," by F. Lancaster Jones, two indices about summary measures of father-to-son mobility are examined. The measures are compared in dichotomous tables and are shown to be easily generalisable to the polytomous case. In "Geometric Concepts in the Analysis of qualitative Variables," author B.G. Mirkin argues that qualitative attributes, nominal or rank, occupy an important place in primary sociological information. He discusses a geometrical approach to the analysis of qualitative variables which, in some features, is analogous to the geometrical approach of the quantitative analysis.
