- Abstract
Slovene classical philologist Anton Sovre completed his term of military service in the Austro-Hungarian army as a one-year volunteer in the years 1906-1907. In 1913, he became a Reserve Lieutenant in the 96th Infantry Regiment and was mobilised during the Skadar Crisis. At the outbreak of World War I, he was drafted into the army and was gravely wounded in Galicia. In early 1915, he returned to the Eastern Front. After Italy's entry into the war, he was transferred to the Italian Front, where he fough on Doberdob/Doberdò del Lago. In the autumn of 1916, he became commander of the 3th Replacement Company of his regiment in Karlovac. In the years 1917-1918, he served in the occupying administration in Montenegro, ultimately as a Precinct Commander. During the war, he received multiple decorations. After the war, he taught in Ptuj.
