- Abstract
The article explains the history of subprime crisis of the U.S. defining the role of its mortgage fraud and the efficacy of the Idaho's Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 for preventing recurrence of mortgage fraud. It compares the different approaches of Washington and Idaho in the implementation of SAFE Act. It depicts the SAFE Act's focus on independent mortgage brokers as it opposes to mortgage lending officers employed by banks.
