The article provides background information on the history of doctrine of sovereign immunity in the U.S. Topics discussed include analysis of whether derivative sovereign immunity is jurisdictional; Supreme Court's current position on the scope of immunity for government contractors, along with lower courts' interpretation of the same; and court cases Yearsley v. W. A. Ross Construction Co., and Campbell-Ewald v. Gomez addressing the same.
