- Title
Anti-atoms: Gotcha!
- Authors
Surko, Clifford M.
- Abstract
The article reports that antihydrogen atoms have been held in a device for more than 15 minutes for the first time by European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) scientists in 2011. It says that the confinement of 309 antihydrogen atoms in the Antihydrogen Laser Physics Apparatus (ALPHA) project trapping apparatus will benefit future experiments to precisely measure its properties. Furthermore, the feat became possible due to scientific advances like the novel auto-resonance technique.
