- Abstract
In recent decades, we have experienced social transformations that have modified gender relations. In the area of sexuality, the changes originate in processes of secularization. More liberated sexual behavior is one visible result but still occurs in an androcentric, heterosexist society where differentiated stereotypes remain and act as parameters regulating human roles and behavior. With that in mind, this research sought to address an area of politically and socially crucial knowledge: juvenile sexuality. Its approach understands juvenile sexuality as a sociocultural, historical construction that changes depending on the era, culture, gender, generation, ethnicity, etc. From that perspective, it is interesting to contribute to sexuality knowledge by studying the "homoerotic" experiences of Chilean-mestizo male teenagers living in the city of Arica. Following studies on the anthropology of sexuality and gender, we seek to learn how sexuality is constructed in homosexual male adolescents by understanding what is socially permitted and sanctioned under a non-heterosexual sexual orientation.
