- Abstract
The article highlights the progress of nuclear power development in the United Kingdom. According to John Hutton, the minister in charge of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, the UK government, its agencies and industry have answered Prime Minister Gordon Brown's urging to develop nuclear option with commendable speed. It reports that the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), also in response to the Prime Minister's announcement, are calling for proposals from developers in using NDA land for the possible construction of new reactor units. It mentions that several other agencies are answering Gordon's call, including the Health and Safety Executive and the Environment Agency, in developing other nuclear options.
