The article examines the use of a formative assessment method known as "Is It Melting?" used in a workshop for elementary teachers that was designed to reconstruct ideas and previous conceptions regarding students' ideas about physical changes. It discusses how addressing common misconceptions held by the teachers could be translated into helping students in the science classroom.
