- Abstract
The article discusses the political and constitutional aspects of the Westland Affair. The section explores on the landmarks in the series of events that have now passed into history under the label of "The Westland Affair," and examine specific issues raised by the Affair, namely relationships between ministers and civil servants, and disclosures of official information. It states that the Affair illustrates the inner workings of the Cabinet, the relationships between ministers and civil servants, the operation of the conventions of individual and collective responsibility, and the potential of the departmental select committees of the House of Commons.
