- Abstract
In order to analyze the influence of temperature change on the ice thickness in ice freezing period of the Yellow River, an automatic monitoring system was established based on the principle of differentiation of electrical conductivity between ice and water. The temperature and ice thickness were continuously and automatically monitored at four monitoring stations of Sanhuhekou, Baotou, Toudaoguan and Wanjiazhai Reservoir tail reach in freeze-up period of 2014. The monitored results show that the data obtained from Sanhuhekou Hydrological Station and Toudaoguai Hydrological Station objectively reflect the influence of negative accumulated temperature on ice thickness. Therefore, based on the data obtained from the two hydrological stations and Stephen Model, the relationship between negative accumulated temperature change and ice thickness change has been established during the freezing period of the Yellow River.
