- Abstract
This study deals with music education during the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. During the six-year period (1939-1945) a fundamental change took place in music education. The study emphasizes the significance of the protectorate music education while considering the context of the events and the situation of the Czech music sphere at that time. The authors point out the development of choral singing and the increase of children’s choirs and school orchestras. The attention is paid to the publishing of Czech, Moravian and Silesian folk songs’ collections and the significance of the radio broadcasting, gramophone records and cinematography, for music education. Furthermore, it focuses on the music-teaching literature, the music discussions, the important figures of the then pedagogy and the trends in music teaching.
